Carpet Removal Questions
Answers about scope, preparation, pricing factors, fasteners, subfloors, moisture, recycling and the handoff to your flooring installer.
What does carpet removal usually include?
The written scope may include carpet, padding, accessible fasteners, bundling, loading and haul-away. Confirm every layer instead of relying on the service name.
How is price determined?
Floor area, room count, stairs, glue, padding, fasteners, furniture, carry distance, parking and the required handoff condition all matter.
Can carpet be recycled in California?
California has a stewardship program, but material condition and receiving-site rules control acceptance. Confirm the current local option before promising recycling.
Does removal include subfloor repair?
No. The exposed substrate may need inspection, repair, moisture testing, leveling or coatings from the appropriate contractor.
What about water-damaged carpet?
Describe the water source, timing, odor and visible condition. Active leaks or suspected mold need the correct assessment; ordinary hauling is not remediation.
Should tack strips stay?
Ask the next flooring installer. Reusable strips may stay for new carpet, while another finish may require removal and repair.
